I, too, am in need of a new washamadryer. I replaced the PCB in the dryer 2 years ago, but the fucker broke again, and now I have giant bricks
.
I don’t want to buy LG stuff, but I need a new stacking washer/dryer combo, and it needs to be less than a grand. I’d prefer to buy American-made.
Any recommendations?

My mom has some Sears ones that have been trucking for like 20 years now with not even so much as a broken belt.
I’m here rn because I’m 1,300 miles from home and I done run out of clean clothes.
My home washer will need to be replaced soon though. It’s got a two-speed sp in and the high speed seems to be busted. I have to put everything through the dryer twice. That’s a problem for my landlord tho.

Fak e news.
Laundromats always have washers from 1970, with half being out of service and the other half eating money when it strikes their fancy

When I have a lot of laundry to do, I prefer the laundromat. It’s nice to be able to do multiple loads simultaneously. At home, four loads will take at least four hours if you want to get everything clean (speed wash rarely gets things really clean).
That is the nicest laundromat I’ve seen. Most of the ones I’ve been to are kinda trashy.

I'm just me so home laundry is easy. I'm currently travelling light though, and I didn't have enough clothes for the whole trip.

It’s an anime reference.

Same guy/studio that did Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Shamploo - came out last year on Netflix. Some pretty good music.

I claim exclusive use to our laundry when it’s laundry day since I’m only home on the weekends. I usually let it build up for two weeks, so it takes a full four hours to get everything done. There’s a single washer and dryer at the hotel, so doing it there often doesn’t work out because of competition for the resources.

The tough thing is when you’re the landlord.

Ha! I don’t blame you. However, this is in English, using mostly American singers. Carole and Tuesday’s (the characters) style is along the lines of singer songwriter - usually keyboard and acoustic guitar. Nobody will know you’re listening to anime.

There can’t possibly be American made ones anymore.
NVM: Google says these are although I thought I read GE’s division was sold to Haier :
Whirlpool. Whirlpool Corporation was founded in 1911, at Michigan, USA by Louis Upton and Emory Upton. ...
General Electric (GE) General Electric (GE) is a US-based multinational company formed in New York and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. ...
SpeedQueen. ...
Amana Corporation. ...
Hotpoint.
I’d rather buy an old machine with the mechanical dials and buttons.

Is that because they aren’t open yet or do you feel like 10:30 is too early for gyros?

I've had good luck with the Maytag washer and dryer in my house. I bought the washer about three years ago and the dryer last year. They're not stackable, though, but Maytag makes stackable units.

I’ve never used a laundromat before... I guess the closest I’ve been is the laundry room in my old university dorm but I don’t recall any bad experiences there.
Are you a fabric softener kind of guy? I use those dryer sheets. Detergent of choice is whatever’s on sale, although I usually like Gain because of its scent.
